SOUTHERN OUTER BANKS WEDDING OFFICIANTS
Rev. Michael “Doc”Barnhart, Sr.
I was the adopted only son of loving, caring, and supportive Christian parents, and raised in Central Georgia. I was always an active member of my church, in choir and the youth group. I became interested in the local funeral home, (my Dad worked there), and I soon decided it would make a good career. Even then, I viewed it more as a ministry than “just a job.”I tragically lost both my parents within a two month period at age 19. As a result, I just could not be around the funeral home for awhile. I pursued my other love instead; music. I attended Georgia Southwestern College majoring in music, with a psychology minor. I left shortly before graduation and performed with rock bands on the road for a number of years with moderate success. With the birth of my children I came “off the road” and settled in Coastal North Carolina in 1979. In 1999 I rededicated my life to my Lord. I went back to college, got my degree, and after passing State and National Board exams, became a licensed funeral director, (which I continue to view as a part of my ministry). I continued in my studies of psychology and theology, and became an ordained non-denominational minister in 2008 to confirm my recommitment to Christ, and to further assist the families I serve as a funeral director. I have since greatly expanded my ministries to include spiritual counseling, and have continued my studies to become proficient in the healing and wellness arts of the Emotional Freedom Technique, (EFT), and the Healing Codes, and of course, the most joyous service of all ,the marriage ceremony.Thank you for taking a few moments to get to know me better. I look forward to meeting you, and I would be grateful for an opportunity to serve and minister in any capacity.
